If you are looking to go off-grid, from building a new home, modifying an existing home, or adding a battery backup, and you need some technical help - you’re in the right spot.

Our Services

We offer the following services depending on your situation

1) Consulting - by the hour

If you are early in your off-grid project and want to talk through ideas or have questions, this is the best route. The rate is $200/hour billable at half-hour increments.

2) Site Assessment

If you own property that you want to take off-grid or if you are purchasing land, this is a good route. If you are building a new off-grid property, this is also a good route. Based on your needs and some discussions I will do some research, calculations, and come up with a preliminary BOM (bill of material) and a preliminary budget. This will include solar calculations, energy use calculations, and battery calculations. I will propose various options, things to think about, and lay out some key decisions that are best to be made early. All are custom to your needs and your property.

This is generally not on site, but can be.

3) Complete design

If you know what you want your off-grid system to do, and already know the rough budget, then this will give you a complete BOM, a more final budget, drawings, and instructions. There will be discussions before and after. This may or may not be on site.

4) Troubleshooting - on or off-site

If you have an existing system or are installing a new system, and need help getting the bugs out.

What I don’t offer…

You Off Grid doesn’t offer construction or electrician services. We’re not licensed for that. If you’re already working on a project with a licensed contractor, other engineers, or an architect, I would be happy to work with them, but our intention is to help and guide you through the process of implementing your system yourself. We can design, draw, and talk it out. We can troubleshoot and problem-solve. I can’t build it for you though. I believe you are more than capable of tackling your project yourself, and we will do everything possible to set you up for success.

Lastly, I am not an architect nor am I a structural engineer. These are both professionals that would be good to have for a brand new off-grid property.
